In every classroom, there are teachers who leave a mark that lasts a lifetime—not just through the lessons they teach, but through the lives they inspire. One of them is Professor April Annie Joy Homoroc, a proud WCC Guimba alumna who recently went viral for her extraordinary story of perseverance, passion, and purpose.
Featured on Dear Dimples of TV5, Prof. Homoroc captured the hearts of viewers nationwide as she shared her journey of juggling multiple roles—mother, wife, educator, community leader, and lifelong learner—while continuing to pursue her dreams. Her story is a living testament to the WCC spirit of resilience and excellence.
A completer of our Continuing Teacher Education program, April built the foundation of her teaching philosophy within the walls of WCC. It was here that she learned that education is not only about sharing knowledge, but about shaping character, nurturing dreams, and uplifting communities.
“The true essence of teaching,” she said on national television, “is not just about imparting lessons, but about forming character and giving hope to others.”
Driven by this belief, she continued her studies, earning her Master’s degree, becoming a PhD candidate, and passing the Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET)—all while pursuing a Law degree and serving as a professor and mother.
Even when life presented challenges, including her husband’s health battle in 2019, April pressed on. “By God’s grace,” she shared, “I was able to continue and finish what I started.”
Beyond the classroom, Prof. Homoroc extends her mission of service through the Rotary Club, where she advocates for community involvement and social responsibility. For her, teaching is more than a career—it is a calling that transcends boundaries.
Today, she stands as a shining example of how WCC’s mission—to improve lives and advance society through globally competitive and value-laden professionals—comes to life through its alumni.
From her humble beginnings as a CTE student in Guimba to becoming a respected educator and leader, Prof. April Annie Joy Homoroc embodies what it truly means to never stop learning, and never stop inspiring.
Indeed, she proves that every WCC graduate carries not just a diploma, but a mission—to teach, to lead, and to make a difference.
